Hollywood Split (officially: Bruce T. Hinman Memorial Interchange ) is a freeway intersection in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles . The following streets intersect here:
- US101 - Ventura Freeway / Hollywood Freeway
- CA134 East - Ventura Freeway
- CA170 North - Hollywood Freeway
This intersection is the west end of State Route 134. It is also known as the intersection of the Hollywood Freeway and the Ventura Freeway . For many drivers, the intersection is a bit confusing for a number of reasons. The term "Hollywood Freeway" is used by both US101 south of the intersection and CA170 north of the intersection, while the term "Ventura Freeway" refers to US101 west of the intersection and CA134 east of the intersection. The "Ventura Freeway" section of the US101 has a west-east alignment , but is signposted as a north-south freeway due to the entire route of the US101. In the entire San Fernando Valley, every driveway can therefore be signposted as US101 North and 101 West or US101 South and US101 East.
Due to the extreme angles at which the streets intersect here, it is not possible to drive at the intersection in all directions. For example, on the US101 coming from the south, you can only follow the US101 west (north) or continue north on the CA170, but not east on the CA134.
