The Holmes rock is a 45  m high cliff rocks in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises from the sea 1.5 km northwest of Emeline Island in the group of Aitcho Islands .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on 1961 after Jeremiah Holmes, captain of the US sealer Emeline , who operated between 1820 and 1821 in the waters around the South Shetland Islands, including in nearby Clothier Harbor .
