Emeline Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the group of Aitcho Islands in the English Strait , it is 3 km northwest of Cecilia Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1961 after the US sealer Emeline under Captain Jeremiah Holmes, who operated between 1820 and 1821 in the waters around the South Shetland Islands, including in nearby Clothier Harbor .
