As holotrich in which is Biology a ciliature of unicellular organisms with cilia referred to which comprises the entire body. The name is derived from the Greek "holos" for "whole, complete, intact" and the Greek "triches" for "hair".

As a rule, the holotrich unicellular organisms are representatives of the eyelash animals (Ciliophora), which were originally summarized as Holotricha due to this property and compared to the Peritrichia with peritrich cilia, including the bell animals . However, since the group does not form a closed kinship group, it was dissolved and the genera were divided into several subordinates.
