holterdiepolter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holterdiepolter (also: holterdipolter ) is an adverb meaning "hastily", "immediately" or "hastily". It stands out because of its iterative word structure, which is characterized by the insert di (e) and a rhyme . The word has the structure "basic word (with a consonant change at the beginning of the word) + di (e) + basic word". Apart from the insert, its structure is comparable to reduplications such as ratzfatz or jerkzuck . The verb rumbling is regarded as the basic word , which as a nuance of meaning to "hurry, quickly, immediately" still contributes to the fact that the process in question is noisy, uneven or hasty, just "rumbling".
