Friedrich Heinrich (Saxony-Zeitz-Pegau-Neustadt)
Friedrich Heinrich von Sachsen-Zeitz (* July 21, 1668 at Moritzburg Castle in Zeitz ; † December 18, 1713 in Neustadt an der Orla ) was a member of a sideline of the Albertine Wettins and Duke of Saxe-Zeitz to Pegau and Neustadt .

Friedrich Heinrich was the fourth son of Duke Moritz von Sachsen-Zeitz from his marriage to Dorothea Maria von Sachsen-Weimar , daughter of Duke Wilhelm IV. Von Sachsen-Weimar .
Life
He was the youngest brother of Duke Moritz Wilhelm von Sachsen-Zeitz , who ruled over the Sachsen-Zeitz secondary school after the death of their father in 1681 .
Friedrich Heinrich took part in the Palatine War of Succession against France and after his first marriage in 1699 was awarded areas from the Neustadt district as well as the Pegau office with the towns and castles of Pegau , Neustadt an der Orla and Arnshaugk from his father's inheritance . He then took up his main residence in Pegau, temporarily in Arnshaugk and finally in Neustadt, and had the Neustadt Castle built by his father expanded into a residence in the Baroque style.
As the duke and regent of his apanage , he had sovereign rights and the income of his territories, but could not achieve complete separation from Saxony-Zeitz and remained politically dependent on the main line.
The occupation of Pegau by the Swedish King Karl XII. and he could not prevent his troops during the Great Northern War in 1707.
Furthermore, he took as an officer in the service of his cousin Elector Johann Georg III. of Saxony in the Imperial War against France in 1689.
With the death of his nephew, Hereditary Prince Friedrich August von Sachsen-Zeitz (1700–1710), he himself became a candidate for the inheritance of the Zeitz main line in 1710, but died three years later. He was followed by his underage son Moritz Adolf Karl under the tutelage of his brother as a duke. Moritz Adolf entered the clergy soon after, however, and renounced his claims in the Pegau-Neustädter Duchy, whereby the entire sovereignty fell back to the main secondogeniture, whose extinction was also inevitable.
Throughout his life he often looked for hidden treasures together with his brother Moritz Wilhelm in order to be able to cover his excess expenses caused by waste.
Death and burial
He died at the age of 45 on December 18, 1713 and was buried in a magnificent coffin in the hall crypt of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Zeitz.
Marriages and offspring
His first marriage was on April 23, 1699 in Oels with Sophie Angelika von Württemberg-Oels , daughter of Duke Christian Ulrich I von Württemberg-Oels from his marriage to Anna Elisabeth von Anhalt-Bernburg . The marriage remained childless and Sophie Angelika died only 19 months after the marriage.
After the mourning period, he married Anna Friederike Philippine of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Wiesenburg , daughter of Duke Philipp Ludwig of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Wiesenburg from his marriage to Anna Margaretha, on February 27, 1702 at Moritzburg Castle in Zeitz from Hessen-Homburg . The following children came from this connection:

- Dorothea Charlotte (born May 20, 1708 in Neustadt / Orla; † November 8, 1708 ibid), Princess of Saxony-Zeitz-Pegau-Neustadt
