Holthusen I , Uelzen district in Lower Saxony , is one of the nine districts of the Lower Saxony municipality of Wriedel in the Lüneburg Heath and has 153 inhabitants. The place is about 2 km north of the main community Wriedel on the road to Amelinghausen and has a bus connection. West of Holthusen is the area of the densely wooded robbery chamber , which belongs to the Munsterlager military training area. In the northeast there is a moor area and the state forest of Süsing .

Holthusen is first mentioned around 1224, although it is of course much older. In earlier times it was a charcoal village, charcoal was used for example. B. produced for salt production in Lüneburg and for 23 breweries in Uelzen, but sheep farming and beekeeping also played an important role. Today there are seven full-time farms in the town, which is characterized by mighty oaks. Excellent table potatoes are produced on medium-heavy heather soils, but sugar beets and various types of grain are also successfully grown.
It was incorporated into Wriedel on July 1, 1972. The name Holthusen I was given to distinguish it from Holthusen II, also in the Uelzen district, a district of the Gerdau community about 10 km south-east of Gerdau.

Holthusen has neither its own church (belongs to the Wriedeler church), nor a school or an inn. Sights are the so-called "mushroom house", this is a half-timbered house in frame construction , on which the upper floor protrudes almost half a meter on all four sides. There is also a roofed oven made of stones, separated from the houses.
