from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The robbery is an approximately 10,000 hectare forest area in the Lüneburg Heath in Lower Saxony . Most of the forest belongs to the Munster-Nord military training area , the areas of which are managed by the Federal Forest Office Robbery Chamber. The Örtze and the Ehlbeck have their area of origin here.

history

Even if the legend of the robber baron Moritz von Zahrenhusen is said to have done mischief in the robbery in the Middle Ages , the name of the forest area probably does not come from roben .

On March 29, 1866 were in the Raubkammer in the district Ehlbeck foresters Müller of the Forest District Rehrhof and Werner from Wulfsode (today Uelzen district ) of poachers shot. The two foresters were buried in the cemetery in Amelinghausen . The grave slab has since been moved to the grounds of the Amelinghausen Church of St. Hippolit. During the Third Reich , around 1935, large rural forest areas were acquired and expropriated to the Munster Nord military training area. In July 1939, the Munster-Nord military training area was renamed the robbery chamber and the military research center there was renamed the robbery chamber near Munster .
