Timber yield

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The total yield of forest operations is largely covered by the timber yield . Income from secondary uses and subsidies as well as other non-timber yields make up only a small part and only amount to approx. 10% in private forests .

The timber yield in the euro area is given in euros / hectare or euros / solid cubic meters . In the context of sustainable forest management, the relationship between renewable timber yields and harvesting is particularly important .

For the Federal Republic of Germany, detailed data on the timber yield by year are published in logging statistics. The wood prices, which give the yield in currency amounts, vary according to the type of wood and from year to year. They are influenced by the market situation and damaging events such as storms or other forest damage. Meaningful comparisons of timber yields can only be made for the respective regions when adjusted for inflation. The following is an overview of the statistics for Germany:

  • 54,356,200 cubic meters of total logging in Germany in 2014
  • 55,612,700 solid cubic meters of total logging in Germany in 2015
  • 52,193,500 solid cubic meters of total logging in Germany in 2016
  • 53,490,700 solid cubic meters of total logging in Germany in 2017
