Holzfäller extreme (original title: Swamp Loggers) is an American docu-soap from the Discovery Channel that is broadcast in Germany on DMAX .

Four seasons with a total of 35 episodes were shot.

The Goodsons

The TV series follows the employees of Goodson All Terrain Logging while they are felling trees for various sawmills in the swamps of North Carolina . The transport of the tree trunks to the sawmills is also part of the series. Most of the episodes are set in Pender County . The episodes mostly show a working week from Monday to Friday. At least 75 trailers full of logs must be delivered to various sawmills every working week, because then the break-even point is reached. If they manage to deliver more than 100 trailers, each employee receives a bonus of 100 US dollars and there is a barbecue together on Friday evening.

The situation is made more difficult by constantly changing purchase quotas, so that it is not always guaranteed that the targeted 100 loads can actually be delivered to the sawmills. Occasionally, due to these restrictions, plants that are further away must also be supplied.

In addition to the difficult operating conditions in the swamps of North Carolina, interpersonal relationships are also a topic of the programs. For example, some of the truck drivers have to undergo severe operations. Difficult weather conditions, defects in the machines and, above all, the economic crisis are also discussed in the series.

The Pelletiers

The Pelletiers are a family of loggers from the state of Maine . They cut and transport wood. In addition to the main business, they also have a restaurant and a workshop where trailers for timber transport and accessories are built.
