Home Audio Video Interoperability (or simply HAVi) refers to a FireWire IEEE 1394 based interface for multimedia components . The interoperationality of various components and plug-and-play functionality are advantageous .

The associated consortium made up of the eight industrial giants Sony , Philips , Hitachi , Sharp , Matsushita , Thomson , Toshiba and Grundig bears the same name.
