The Hopfner HS.9 was an Austrian two-seat training and touring aircraft from the early 1930s.

History and construction

The HS.9 is a further development of the Hopfner HS.5 / 28 and HS.8 / 29 . The aircraft was a fabric-covered, braced high-wing aircraft with a non-retractable tail wheel landing gear and offered space for two people in an open tandem cockpit. The first flight took place in 1932, powered by a de Havilland Gipsy I. The production version was created by a radial engine Siemens Sh 14 driven. A model powered by an unknown Siemens motor started in 1935 under the name HS.9 / 35. The company was subsequently taken over by Hirtenberger AG and production continued under the name Hirtenberg HS.9.
