Horst P. Popp

Horst P. Popp (born June 1, 1958 in Nuremberg ) was founder and CEO of Umweltbank AG .

Life

Popp attended the Martin-Behaim-Gymnasium Nuremberg and then studied business administration at the universities of Nuremberg-Erlangen and Würzburg. He passed his degree as a business graduate in 1984 with distinction. He then gained his first banking experience in a one-year trainee program at DG Bank .

In 1989 he became head of the credit department at Raiffeisenbank Nuremberg before moving to the board of directors of Ökobank in 1992 . Expanding their concept, he and his wife Sabine founded Umweltbank AG in 1997 , which he managed as CEO until 2015. In the same year it was given all the rights of a bank by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority . In 2008 Popp was the main shareholder of the company with a stake of around 15%.

In 2015 Popp resigned as a member of the board of the Umweltbank. Its 15.6% stake was sold to GLS-Bank in 2018 .

Horst P. Popp is divorced and has two children.
