Horst Schender

Horst Schender (born August 16, 1938 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ).

Life

After compulsory schooling, Horst Schender attended the teacher training institute, passed the necessary qualification test and then worked as a teacher . His political career began in 1967 when he moved into the Linz municipal council as a free member . In 1973, after a legislative period as a local councilor, he moved to the Upper Austrian state parliament , to which he was to belong for 16 years until 1989.

In July 1989 he became an Ombudsman . He held this office until June 2001. Within his party, the FPÖ, he was state party chairman for Upper Austria from 1972 to 1989. In addition, from 1976 to 1988 he was among four federal party leaders, starting with Friedrich Peter and ending with Jörg Haider , deputy federal party leader of the Freedom Party. From 1980 to 1988 Schender was also chairman of the Freedom Educational Organization .

Horst Schender's son is the former member of the National Council, Rüdiger Schender (* 1974).
