The memorial for the Buchenwald concentration camp branch

The prisoners from the Buchenwald subcamp were deployed from April 6, 1944 to January 29, 1945 in the Reichsbahn repair shop in Schwerte, primarily to repair locomotives. In 1985 the site was bought by the city of Schwerte and it was decided to set up a memorial. The city of Schwerte decided to design the memorial to purchase Horst Wegener's design.

The memorial shows five prisoners who lie like railway sleepers under two 5-meter-long rails, some of them rotting, frozen in screaming, some of them silent.
