Hortus Vitalis (lat. "Garden of Life") is a maze of thuja hedges . It is located at the spa gardens in Bad Salzuflen and was opened on August 1, 2008. The barrier-free facility, which is subject to a fee, is 5400 m² in size and consists of 4500 approximately 2.20 meter high plants of the species Occidental arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Columna', "pillar arborvitae"). There are several action areas on the site, such as a children's playground , garden chess , boules and badminton .

There is a viewing platform at the destination of the maze. The route system covers a total of 2.3 kilometers, the shortest destination route is 160 meters. Some paths are equipped with interval-controlled water features that temporarily block the passage.
