The Hotel St. Petersbourg is a hotel in the Estonian capital Tallinn ( German  Reval ).

It is located in the historic Old Town Revaler in a corner location at the confluence of Dunkerstrasse (Estonian Dunkri tänav ) on Rader Road ( Rataskaevu tänav ) 7. at the address Rader street right outside the hotel is the wheel wells .

Architecture and history

The first mention of a building on the site comes from 1373 in connection with the widow of the Reval mayor Peter Stokstrop . A Russian merchant later bought the building. In 1850 the house was rebuilt by the architect Christian August Gabler . The building, which has been running as a hotel since then, is the oldest operating hotel in Estonia.

On May 24, 1901, the Kalev Cyclists' Association was founded in the house, which today exists as Eesti Spordiselts Kalev . A plaque attached to the house reminds of this.

On November 22, 1940, the hotel was nationalized by Soviet authorities. It served as accommodation for government officials during the time of the Soviet occupation of Estonia. The Soviet party and state leader Leonid Brezhnev lived here for a time . At that time the house was called Hotel Rataskaevu . In 1999 it was renovated and renamed the Hotel St. Petersbourg . From 2013 to the beginning of 2014 another renovation took place, whereby the interior design was developed by the Andrew Martin company and based on the style of historical Russian merchants.

The hotel has 27 rooms and suites, two restaurants and belongs to the Schlössle hotel group.
