Architecture and history
The two-storey wooden house was built in 1790 on the Gjerde farm with a floor area of 25 by 11 meters. To the east of the main building there are two other buildings grouped around a courtyard in a horseshoe shape to the north and south. In 1909 Vilhelm Yri (1846–1917) acquired the property. He previously ran a hotel in Olden , which he had handed over to his sons. He ran the house as Hotel Yris until his death in 1917. In 1940 his grandson Wilhelm Yri took over the house. Large parts of the garden property belonging to the courtyard were sold. In the 1970s it was no longer used as a hotel. For a while there was still a restaurant. The house was restored in the 2010s.
The main building has been a listed building since June 6, 1923, and an auxiliary building since February 10, 2014. It is also part of the Eidsgata og Tverrgata monument area .
