The United States House Committee on Armed Services (colloquially House Armed Services Committee ) is a standing committee of the United States House of Representatives . It decides on the use of the budget beyond the general allocation and controls the activities of the armed forces . In addition, it oversees those parts of the Department of Energy that are involved in the nuclear armament of the United States. Because of the importance of the armed forces in US foreign policy and the large budget that the committee administers, it is considered one of the most important and influential committees of all.
