Hovden (Setesdal)
Hovden is a village with 416 inhabitants (2011) in the Norwegian municipality of Bykle in Fylke Agder . The village is located in the upper Setesdal , at the confluence of the Otra river with the Hartevatnet lake . Reichstraße 9 (Riksvei 9) leads through the village .
As the center of a large Alpine and Nordic ski area, the place is characterized by tourism; With around 150 kilometers of trails, the area is the largest ski area in southern Norway, and the water temperature in Hovden Aqualand & Spa is a constant 30 degrees.
During the Viking Age , iron was extracted from brown iron and charcoal in Hovden; this aspect of local history is highlighted in a museum.
