The Hoyer Group is a transport and logistics company with headquarters in Hamburg .

history

In 1946 Walter Hoyer founded the international specialist haulage company Hoyer and named it "Bruno Hoyer Internationale Fachspedition" after his father. Two years later, the first vehicle was purchased for the transport of milk, which was used to drive transports from Hamburg to Berlin . The first foreign branch, Hoyer Nederland, was founded in Rotterdam in 1960. In 1980, Hoyer USA was added as the first overseas subsidiary in New York . The first vehicles with mobile terminals followed ten years later . From July 1, 1991, Walter Hoyer was the new chairman of the advisory board and his son Thomas Hoyer became managing partner . Hoyer started the IBC business in 1994 and offers not only rental but also customer-specific transport and logistics solutions. Walter Hoyer, founder of the HOYER Group, died on December 17, 2002 at the age of 87. Thomas Hoyer assumed the position of management. In 2005 a new combined terminal went into operation in Schkopau . In October 2006, Ortwin Nast, for the first time, a non-family CEO took over responsibility for the Hoyer Group. From 2007 Thomas Hoyer was chairman of the advisory board. A newly developed beer tank container was used from 2012. The HOYER Group published its social commitment in 2013 with the “HOYER Sustainability Report”, which presents key figures on sustainability and profitability.

In European and global bulk goods logistics, the Hoyer Group employs 6,476 people in 115 countries. The company has 2,369 tractors , 2,656 tank trailers , 43,128 IBCs , 39,156 tank containers ( also known as Hoyer-tainers in German ) and numerous logistics facilities with depots, cleaning systems and workshops (as of 2017).

Friedel and Walter Hoyer Foundation

On the occasion of the company's 50th anniversary in 1996, Walter and Friedel Hoyer set up the foundation for the promotion of art and culture as well as charitable and social institutions in the field of youth and elderly care. With the establishment of the foundation, the entrepreneur couple realized their great wish to give back part of their entrepreneurial success to the community.
