Hrvatska riječ ("Croatian word") is a political, Croatian-language , local weekly newspaper with an editorial office in Subotica , Serbia .
The newspaper is aimed primarily at Croats and Bunjewatzen in Vojvodina .
history
The day of the first edition was May 31, 1945, as the Latin edition of the daily Slobodna Vojvodina . Blaško Vojnić Hajduk was the editor . Staff members were Vladislav Kopunović, Stevan Kolar, Josip Kujundžić, Ljubomir Milin, Mileta Ognjanov, Đuro Kemenj, Ante Vojnić Purčar, Joso Šokčić , and later also Balint Vujkov .
On August 26, 1945 the daily changed its name to Hrvatska riječ . Hrvatska riječ has been a weekly newspaper since December 6, 1946 . On August 3, 1956, the Sreski odbor SSRN changed the name of the newspaper to Subotičke novine .
Since 2003 the newspaper has been published again under the name Hrvatska riječ .
