Sabine Seidel

Sabine Seidel (born September 3, 1956 in Dresden , GDR ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

The former athlete came to BSG Turbine Potsdam in 1979 . There the striker became the first “star” of GDR women's football . According to coach Bernd Schröder, she was "the first player who was able to cross the ball at full speed". With Turbine, she won the GDR best determination five times. From September 1986 she built up the club's youth department, the fruits of which would be harvested years later.

After finishing her active career, she was a junior manager and trainer for 20 years. At the end of 1994, she took over the first team, which was in danger of relegation, and led them to a secure sixth place in the club's first Bundesliga season.

In 2000, Seidel led the B-Juniors of the meanwhile spun off club 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam to the German championship, which was played for the first time. As a trainer, she was able to win this title four more times. In July 2006, after winning the championship, she resigned from her coaching position for personal reasons. Nevertheless, she remained the property manager of the sports field in the Potsdam Forest City and was the supervisor of several young national teams.

From 1996 to 2014 Sabine Seidel was chairwoman of the women's and girls' football committee in the Brandenburg State Football Association .
