Huangyaguan ( Chinese  黃崖關  /  黄崖关 , Pinyin Huáng yáguān  - "Yellow Cliff") in Ji District (蓟县) in the government- direct city of Tianjin is an important crossing point of the Great Wall of China , about 30 km north of Tianjin.

Huangyaguan was built in 557 during the Southern and Northern Dynasties . It was of great importance in defense against the Manchu invasions during the Ming Dynasty . At the time of the great soldier Qi Jiguang , the wall section was significantly reinforced with brick and stone.

The Huangyaguan section has a large number of typical Great Wall designs, including water and signal towers as well as the Baguaguan Fortress and the great watchtower "Phoenix Tower". The corresponding wall section lies on a ridge and has some very steep sections. In 1986 the section was placed under protection as a cultural monument by the city of Tianjin. Since then, over 3,000 m of the wall and 20 water towers have been restored.
