Hubert and Muzo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hubert and Muzo (Placid and Muzo) is a series of comics with short gags with anthropomorphic animals. The main characters are Hubert and Muzo, a bear and a fox. They are close friends but often conflict.

Release history

The comic strip was created by illustrator José Cabrero Arnal and writer Pierre Olivier in 1946 before it was taken over by Jacques Nicolaou . The comic strip was originally published in the comic magazine Vaillant and in the comic magazine Pif Gadget . Hubert and Muzo also published paperback comic books in the 1980s. For the new version of the Pif Gadget newspaper, the comic was revived until 2008.

In Germany, Hubert and Muzo appeared in various editions of the comic magazine Yps from 1981 to 1983 .

content

The stories are short and aimed at a young audience. In the paperback version, the adventures of Hubert and Muzo were subject to a specific topic every month, so that the reader could experience his heroes in a specific context (mail carrier, repairs of all kinds, veterinarian, space etc.).

characters
  • Hubert is a corpulent black bear who wears a vest and trousers with buttons in Nicolaou's first comic strips. He later wears a polo shirt. He is very greedy or voracious and also lazy. It plays the fool, but he often turns out to be smarter than Muzo in the end.
  • Muzo is a fox who wears overalls. He also wears polo shirts in later stories. Muzo is usually more serious than Hubert and is authoritarian towards him. He forces Hubert to do a job or go on a diet. He thinks he's smart, but often doesn't have the last word.
  • Riri and Fifi are Muzo's nephews. They sometimes appear in their adventures. You look like your uncle in miniature. They are quite clever and resourceful, but regularly fall prey to their uncle's greed.
  • Tib: Hubert's nephew. He's a panda. Tib is characterized by intelligence and ingenuity and always sticks his nose into books.
  • Tib's parents are two pandas. The father is as fat as Hubert, but the mother is thin. They prefer their son playing outside rather than always studying. She only appeared in a few paperback comics about Tib.
  • Mecton appears to be a dog and a friend to Placid and Muzo. He shows a friendly demeanor and is a slacker and quite an exploiter.
  • Professor Grostalent is an inventor who wears round glasses and sometimes a twisted blouse and hat. He appears occasionally in the adventures of Placid and Muzo, though you rarely see the fruits of his inventions yourself. It is shown in the form of a dog (a poodle).
  • Pif appeared in a single comic strip from a paperback book.
  • Muzo's brother also appears in a comic strip. He has more hair than Muzo and doesn't wear clothes.
  • Monsieur and Madame tout-le-monde are human characters who are occasionally involved in the stories.
