Hubertushof

The Hubertushof is in Merzenhausen , a district of Jülich in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Düren . The complex has been a listed building since June 18, 1984 .

The former moated castle was the seat of the noble von Merzenhausen family, but the knight dynasty went out around 1400. The lords of Streithagen became new owners . This family died out 300 years later. Elisabeth von Streithagen, mother of Jan von Werth , lived in the castle. After a change of ownership through inheritance, the complex fell into disrepair. Today's Hubertushof was built on its remains in the middle of the 17th century.

In 1805 Johann Joseph Gottfried Opfergelt (1770–1842) acquired the property. His ancestors had already managed the Hubertushof as tenants for a long time. Direct Line owned by the family who stayed estate to Barthel victims Gelt 1913 without descendants died. The property was inherited by his godchild and nephew Barthel Weitz.

The right-angled brick complex is in the Renaissance style. It has a two-storey residential building facing the street with rectangular windows and two curved gables . The manor was considerably damaged in the Second World War , but was later rebuilt. The property is still owned by the Weitz family.
