Career
Richard Hudson and John Ford previously played with Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera and from 1971 with the Strawbs . Both were also the authors of the Strawbs' biggest hit, Part of the Union . The song rose to number 2 in the UK charts in 1973 . Then they separated from the Strawbs.
They released four albums, recorded with session musicians, under their Hudson-Ford name. Three of her singles made it into the UK charts, the biggest hit being Pick Up the Pieces . After the punk wave came up , they changed their concept and called themselves The Monks . Under the new band name, two more albums were released, which were particularly successful in Canada. With Nice Legs - Shame About the Face the Monks also brought a hit into the UK Top 40. Another project was carried out under the name High Society .
From 1983 Richard Hudson has rejoined the Strawbs . John Ford now lives in the USA . He has released some solo albums.
