Ludwig Kronthaler
Ludwig Kronthaler (* 1957 in Donauwörth ) is a German lawyer and science manager. He is Vice President for Budget, Human Resources and Technology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From October 1, 2010 to spring 2017, he was Secretary General of the Max Planck Society .
Life
After completing secondary school, Kronthaler first completed an apprenticeship in the middle service of the Bavarian financial administration. After graduating from high school by distance learning , he studied law at the University of Augsburg from 1981 to 1988 . After the second state examination, he worked as a government councilor at the Augsburg tax office and from 1989 to 1993 in the Bavarian Ministry of Finance. He received his doctorate in 1991 from the University of Augsburg and worked as head of the tax office branch in the tax office in Donauwörth , later as financial advisor at the Bavarian State Ministry for Federal and European Affairs in Bonn .
From 1997 until his appointment to the Federal Fiscal Court in 2005, he was Chancellor of the Technical University of Munich . In this function he played a key role in the reform work of the Technical University of Munich, the core of which is a modern constitution with a new entrepreneurial basic structure. He was also involved in setting up so-called education funds, a new type of tuition fee at the Technical University of Munich.
Kronthaler was a judge at the Federal Fiscal Court from 2005 to 2007 .
Since October 1, 2007 he has been a member of the University Council of the Technical University of Munich.
He took a leave of absence as a federal judge in May 2007 to take on the position of Director of Resource Management and Industrial Affairs for the European Space Agency (ESA) in Paris. This task includes human resources, finance, procurement, industrial policy and corporate controlling.
Since October 1, 2010, he has been Secretary General of the Max Planck Society . In November 2016 he was elected as the new Vice President for Budget, Human Resources and Technology at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
