Hugo Bästlein

Hugo Bästlein (born January 22, 1868 in Heinrichs ; † unknown) was a consumer cooperative, managing board member of the Central Association of German consumer associations and chairman of the board of the Hamburg Chamber of Consumers

Hugo Bästlein attended elementary school and then completed a commercial apprenticeship in a weapons factory in Suhl from 1882 to 1885. From 1887 to 1897 he was the commercial manager of a sub-company. He was a co-founder of the consumer association Selbsthilfe in Heinrichs, established in 1892, and its managing director from April 1, 1892 to April 30. In 1897 he became the mayor of his place of birth. He held this position together with that of the managing director until 1913. In the Thuringian consumer cooperative auditing association, he was an association auditor from July 1, 1900, a board member from 1902 and an association director from 1911. At the same time, from 1906 he was head of the consumer cooperative purchasing association Suhl and the coal purchasing association until they were affiliated to theLarge purchasing company of German consumer associations (GEG). In 1907 he became a member of the supervisory board of the GEG. He belonged to the collective bargaining office of the GEG as an assessor. In November 1912, the Central Association of German Consumer Associations was reorganized and Bästlein was elected as one of the three executive board members and the publishing company of German consumer associations. The Volksfürsorge trade union cooperative insurance later appointed him auditor. When the Feuer- und Sachversicherungs AG Eigenhilfe was founded, he became a member of the board of directors, and later the chairman of the board.

During the establishment of the Hamburg Chamber of Consumers, he became a member of the board of directors, and later the chairman of the board. He was a member of the Provisional Reich Economic Council from its establishment until 1933. After the seizure of power by the Nazis in January 1933 which took place DC circuit of the consumer cooperative movement in May 1933. Bästlein who had reached retirement age, retired. Here his track is lost.
