Hugo III (Vaudémont)

Hugo III (* before 1231; † around 1244) was a Count of Vaudémont . He was a son of Count Hugo II and his wife, Hedwiga von Raynel.

From around 1231 he was married to Margarete von Bar, a daughter of Count Theobald I of Bar and the Ermesinde of Luxembourg . Your children were:

  • Heinrich I († 1278), Count of Vaudémont
  • Agnes († 1282), ∞ with Walram I. (Zweibrücken)
  • Maria, ∞ with Dietrich von Schönberg
  • Margarete, ∞ with Heinrich von Grandpré, Herr von Hans

Hugo took part in the barons' crusade from June 1239 under the leadership of Count Theobald IV of Champagne to the holy land ( crusade of the barons ). In the battle of Gaza he was taken prisoner in Egypt, which was released in 1241. His brother-in-law, Heinrich II von Bar , was killed in the battle.
