Hugo of Lusignan († 1169)
Hugo von Lusignan († 1169 ) from the noble family Lusignan was regent of the lordship of Lusignan and the county of La Marche . He was the son of Hugo VIII of Lusignan , Lord of Lusignan, Count of La Marche, and his wife Bourgogne de Rançon .
Hugo, the eldest son and designated heir, ruled his father's lands when he went on a crusade to the Holy Land. There his father was captured by Muslims in 1164 and imprisoned in Aleppo , where he finally died in 1173. Since Hugo himself died in 1169, it was not he, but his son Hugo, a grandson of Hugo VIII, whose successor was Hugo IX.
With his wife named Orengarde he had two sons and a daughter:
- Hugo IX of Lusignan († 1219), Lord of Lusignan and Count of La Marche;
- Rudolf von Lusignan († 1219), Lord of Issoudun, Count of Eu;
- Alamanda († after 1169).
