Huh-7

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Huh7 (also Huh7 ) is a cell line derived from malignant liver cells (hepatocytes malignant) was obtained. According to the website huh7.com, it is "a well-differentiated, hepatocyte-derived carcinoma cell line obtained from a liver tumor in a 57-year-old Japanese male patient in 1982". It is widely used in hepatitis C and dengue virus research.

Huh7 cells have been used extensively in hepatitis C research. Until 2005 it was not possible to cultivate hepatitis C viruses in the laboratory. The introduction of the Huh7 cell line allowed the screening of drug candidates against cultured in the laboratory Hepatitis C virus and the development of new drugs against hepatitis C.
