The Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA), German: Authority for Human Fertilization and Embryology , is the regulatory and supervisory authority for all clinics in Great Britain that carry out artificial inseminations ( in vitro fertilization ) or inseminations , as well as for all semen , Egg and embryo banks in the country. The HFEA is also responsible for authorizing and overseeing all research on human embryos carried out in the UK. The HFEA can also submit proposals to the British legislative bodies for changes in the area of ​​artificial insemination law that it considers necessary.

From an organizational point of view, it is a public body that is not directly integrated into the structures of a ministry (Non-Departmental Public Body), but is assigned to the UK Department of Health.
