The Humboldt Mountains ( English Humboldt Mountains , named after the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt ) is a mountain range in the US state of Nevada .
The Humboldt Mountains form two parallel ridges in the northern part of the Great Basin , which run from north to south about 220 km apart. They are roughly between 40 ° and 41 ° north latitude and 115 ° and 118 ° west longitude .
The eastern chain has a 3677 m high peak in the north . The western train accompanies the lower reaches of the Humboldt River and the Humboldtsee .
