The Alexander von Humboldt Mountains are a mountain group in the Antarctic and part of the Wohlthat massif , to which the Petermann range and the Otto von Gruber range also belong. It is located in central Queen Maud Land and reaches heights of nearly 2900 meters. The Alexander von Humboldt Mountains were discovered by the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher , documented with the help of aerial photographs and named after Alexander von Humboldt .
