Hummingbird Ltd. is a software manufacturer founded in 1984 in Toronto , Ontario. In 2005 the company had over 1500 employees in 40 locations worldwide. Customers include IBM , NASA , Morgan Stanley , Boeing , The Walt Disney Company and the Canadian government. In 1993 the company issued shares valued at 45 million Canadian dollars on the Toronto Stock Exchange . In 2006, Hummingbird was bought by Open Text for $ 489 million.
