Hundesmühler peat basket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hundesmühler Torfkorb , as Herrschaftlicher Hundesmühler Torfkorb called, was a Torfmaß in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and after the place Hundsmühlen named.

The dimensions of the basket were 26 inches high, 22 inches at the bottom and 29 inches at the top. The dimensions were determined by a government announcement of 1817 (May 24th and published June 5th). The aim was to counteract the shrinking peat powder, which had halved over the time since the establishment of December 12, 1758 and April 30, 1868.

  • 1 Hundesmühler peat basket = 10,029 11/100 Parisian cubic inches = 8 bushels plus 12 ¾ cans (Oldenburg) = 198.9 liters (calculated)
  • 11 Hundesmühler peat basket = 1 load (dredging peat)
  • 12 dog mills peat basket = 1 fuder (brown / black peat)
  • 14 Hundesmühler peat basket = 1 load (white peat)
