The Hunsrück History Association was first founded in November 1901 in Simmern . After eventful years, mergers with other associations for popular education and cessation of association activities in the world wars, the association was re-established in 1958 under the old name. Relevant promoter was the Simmerner teacher Ernst Siegel, a teacher at Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium Simmern, who presided in the following years.
