Hunters Stone
The Hunter's Stone is about 2.0 m high, presumably medieval orientation stone of sandstone with an irregular square cross section. It stands on a back road in Coverdale about 3 miles from Kettlewell and 2.5 miles from Woodale in North Yorkshire , England .
The stone marks an important early route for monks, drovers and hunters who hunted deer in the nearby forest.
A small cross is cut into one side.
Legend
A local legend tells that the stone turns when the clock in Hunter's Hall, (now Coverhead Farm) strikes twelve.
