In the early morning of August 24th, Marie rapidly developed into a Category 2 hurricane and only six hours later into a hurricane of the second highest Category 4. Marie achieved peak wind speeds of 260 km / h in the highest Category 5 that evening Marie is the first category 5 hurricane since Hurricane Celia in 2010. On the night of August 25, Marie weakened again to a category 4 hurricane, now drifting northwest and passing Clarión just west .
