Husung is a Middle High German family name.

Origin and meaning

Husung can be derived from the Low German family name Hüsing . The meaning of the name can be translated into standard German as "dwelling". The oldest known bearers of the name come from the 17th century from the Harz regions in northern Thuringia, southern Saxony-Anhalt and eastern Lower Saxony. This is where the family name occurs most frequently in Germany even today. The name is particularly well represented in the Nordhausen area .
