Hat thrower

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hutschenschleuderer is an Austrian term from the Vienna area. In the past two centuries, it was used to describe a young man who was employed as an assistant in a swing company, in particular a ship swing company.

tasks

These fairground rides were set up at fairs , fair fairs or hustle and bustle - where the hat thrower usually also helped - or were always available, as in the Wiener Wurstelprater . He released and set the brakes and, if necessary, helped the guests, especially lighter children and less sporty older people, to get away from the low point. So he initially pushed the Hutsche (swing) a little or "flung" it to some extent from the side. Often it was a question of adolescents and / or unemployed people who were independent and could travel through the country with the mobile swing and the boss or the showman family with trucks and tractors in the warm season.
