The Huttwil Falcons are a former Swiss ice hockey club from Huttwil in the canton of Bern .

history

In 1996 the EHC Napf was created from the merger of the three associations EHC Wasen-Sumiswald, EHC Huttwil and EHC Rohrbach . The game was started in the 3rd division, four years later followed by promotion to the 1st division . In 2003, the EHC Napf won the 1st league in the Central Switzerland group and placed second in the final round behind EHC Chur , who subsequently rose to the NLB . In order to be able to move up to the NLB, the first team of the club was transferred to a stock corporation with a share capital of 100,000 Swiss francs in 2009. The main shareholders were the two entrepreneurs Markus Bösiger and Heinz Krähenbühl, who each held 50 percent of the shares. The club was renamed the Huttwil Falcons . In spring 2011 the “Falken” became Swiss amateur champions, which would have meant promotion to the NLB. Despite interest, no compliant promotion request was submitted, causing the National League to refuse promotion. The two shareholders then got out, dissolved the joint stock company and the first team, and ceased ice production. The second and third teams, which were legally independent of the first team, were able to keep playing in the 2nd and 4th leagues, but from then on had to train and play away from home.
