description

The nature reserve is east of Glücksburg. It comprises the cliff area south of Bockholm, which is formed by a moraine cliff up to 30 m high , as well as the coastal section between Bockholmwik and Langballigholz, in which the young moraine plateau largely does not extend to the coast and the area here to the east Part of it is not pronounced as a steep coast. In this part of the plateau is the 200 to 400 m wide Höftland with flushing fringes and natural and culturally shaped beach wall systems with salt marshes , wet meadows and species-rich, lean grassland . The structurally rich forests adjoining the plateau with the ravines of Ringsbergerau and Königsau and side valleys are included in the nature reserve. The Ringsbergerau is piped in one section; A renaturation of the section is sought. The forests have a sufficient proportion of old and dead wood . The nature reserve extends over a width of 500 to 600 m also on the beach areas and shallow water areas in the Flensburg Outer Fjord with seagrass meadows , wind flats , sandbanks , reefs , mussel banks and block fields. The coastal ecosystem typical of the Baltic Sea is close to nature and hardly exists in a comparable form on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast. It is therefore of particular importance for nature conservation. The area between the beginning of the cliff below Wahrberg and the east side of the Bockholmwik sports boat harbor is excluded from the scope of the Nature Conservation Ordinance, as this area is heavily used for tourism.

The forests in the nature reserve, which take up around 50% of the area, are characterized as beech forests and oak-hornbeam forests as well as oak forests with English oak . In the brook gorges and on the cliffs, there are sometimes gorge and hillside mixed forests . Moist locations in the stream valleys and along the coast are occupied by alluvial forests with black alder and ash . Sedge , reed and tall herbaceous meadows can be found in the grassland areas .

The beach wall landscape and the adjacent moist grassland sites are the habitat of a diverse flora . In the nature reserve endangered and endangered species on the red list of Schleswig-Holstein were detected here more than 200 plant species, including 22, including beach thistle , beach pea , thrift , marsh orchid , marsh marigold , the ragged robin , cuckoo flower , meadow fluff oats, nodules saxifrage and Common bird's-foot trefoil . Other species occurring in the nature reserve are z. B. bitter foam herb , stately orchid , fox's orchid , spotted orchid , greenish forest hyacinth , fever clover , giant horsetail , hanging sedge , swamp fern , liverwort and narrow-leaved cottongrass and bell heather . Melde, sea mustard, beach grass, beach rye , red fescue and sheep fescue also settle on the beach wall off the Höftland with its shallow water zones and rinsing fringes.

The Flensburg Fjord is the habitat of the porpoise , a. from herring , mackerel , cod , and goby fed. The area is of particular importance for eider , mountain duck , whooper swan and little tern, as well as goosander and redshank , both of which breed in the area. The amphibian natterjack toad (in the coastal area) and tree frog (on the plateau) as well as the crested newt are also native to the nature reserve .

The nature reserve also serves as a stepping stone between the nature reserves “ Peninsula Holnis ”, “ Pugumer See and Surroundings ” and “ Tal der Langballigau ”. In addition to its importance for nature conservation, the area also has a high recreational value. It has a good network of hiking trails. a. is used for local recreation and tourism.
