The Pugumer See and the surrounding area is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Glücksburg (Baltic Sea) in the Schleswig-Flensburg district . The 89  hectare nature reserve is entered under number 88 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization of the State of Schleswig-Holstein . It was expelled in early 1978 (date of regulation: January 5, 1978). On February 21, 2017, the nature reserve was expanded to include adjacent areas and parts of the " Friedeholz " forest to the west to 145 hectares. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area "coastal areas Flensburg Fjord from Flensburg to Geltinger Birk" and to a large extent of the EU bird sanctuary "Flensburg Fjord". It is from the conservation area surrounded "Flensburg Fjord". The “ Peninsula Holnis ” nature reserve connects to the north . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Schleswig-Flensburg district.

The nature reserve is located northeast of Glücksburg. It includes the Pugumer See, a beach lake that is largely silted up today. The silted up areas are swampy and are predominantly occupied by quarry forest . In the north of the nature reserve there is still an open water surface. In the west, part of the Friedeholz belonging to the Glücksburg Forest is included in the nature reserve. This was significantly increased when the nature reserve was expanded in 2017.

A cormorant colony has existed on Lake Pugum since 1992 . From 1994, white-tailed eagles came to the area as food guests, whereupon the cormorants moved their sleeping place to the Westerwerker See. After sea eagles have been breeding here since 2003, the cormorants gave up the colony on Lake Pugum.

The nature reserve is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests .
