The Alte Sorge loop is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein communities of Meggerdorf , Bergenhusen and Erfde in the Schleswig-Flensburg district .

meaning

The approximately 758  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 144 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It has been under protection since September 25, 2009 and replaces the approximately 660 hectare nature reserve of the same name that was designated in 1991 (date of the ordinance: September 19, 1991). It is to a large extent part of the FFH area "Moore of the Eider-Treene-Sorge-Niederung" and almost completely part of the EU bird sanctuary "Eider-Treene-Sorge-Niederung". For both Natura 2000 projects, in June 2012 the Integrated Station Eider-Treene-Sorge and West Coast of the Natura 2000 project group on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas of Schleswig-Holstein (MLUR) created a management plan for the sub-area " NSG Alte Sorge-Loop ”. The lands in the nature reserve belong to the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation . Parts of the grassland in the nature reserve are used extensively for agriculture. The nature reserve is looked after by the Eider-Treene-Sorge and West Coast nature reserve. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Schleswig-Flensburg district.

location

The nature reserve is located northwest of Rendsburg and southeast of Husum within the Eider-Treene-Sorge river landscape . It includes part of the old concern between five mills in the north and the state road 202 in the south and adjoining grassland and fen areas and the embedded in this Colsrakmoor west of Meggerdorf.

Old worry

The Alte Sorge is an old arm of the Sorge , which is now separated from the river. It is characterized by pronounced meander loops . The Alte Sorge is accompanied by wet grassland and often narrow reed areas . By retaining the rainwater, the water level of the Alte Sorge can be raised in a controlled manner and large areas of grassland can be flooded. The Alte Sorge drains into the Eider via the Große Schlote and Neue Schlote .

Flora and fauna

Parts of the grassland areas are grazed extensively, others mowed late, taking into account nature conservation concerns . The nature reserve is such an important habitat and a. for waders and other bird species as well as amphibians . In the winter months, the area is a resting and wintering area for waders and water birds , including, for example, dwarf swans , for which the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowland is an important resting place.

The grassland areas are habitat for numerous waders and meadow birds . So here come z. B. Common snipe , curlew , black godwit , lapwing , meadow pipit , skylark and whinchat . White stork and Montagu's Harrier use the area for foraging. On the wet meadows grow u. a. Meadowfoam , creeping buttercup and cuckoo carnation .

Colsrakmoor

The Colsrakmoor, a degenerate bog is of raised bog residues Hochstaudenfluren and grassland broke and dominated peatland forests. It is left to develop naturally.

Hiking trails run through parts of the Colsrakmoor and adjacent grassland areas . In the south, the former embankment of the railway line between Husum and Rendsburg crosses the nature reserve. The Eider-Treene-Sorge cycle path runs along the former railway embankment.
