Reesholm / Schlei ( Danish : Rejsholm or Palør (e) ) is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein municipality of Schaalby in the Schleswig-Flensburg district .

The approximately 120 hectare nature reserve is registered under number 87 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was expelled in 1976 (date of regulation: August 30, 1976). It is part of the FFH area "Schlei incl. Schleimünde and upstream flat grounds" and the EU bird protection area "Schlei". It is adjacent to the conservation area "Northern Schleinufer". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Schleswig-Flensburg district.

The nature reserve is located on the north bank of the Schlei, east of Schleswig in the Schlei Nature Park . It protects the Reesholm Peninsula and the Hestholm Island in its great latitude, including a 50 meter wide strip of water, as well as the area of ​​water between the eastern part of the Reesholm Peninsula and the Hestholm Island.

Much of the Reesholm peninsula is only slightly above sea level. It is often flooded during floods, so that botanically valuable salt marsh communities could develop. Here come u. a. Spoonweed , beach aster , beach trident and beach plantain . Tall herbaceous corridors grow on areas that are not grazed . The bank areas are partially occupied by reed zones.

In the southern area of ​​the peninsula there is a higher, flat moraine plate. The pastures areas are here by mainly with Hawthorn equipped Knicks separately. Dry lawn areas are partially occupied by broom . The areas are grazed with cattle from time to time and the gorse is eaten short. In the area of ​​the moraine plate on the west side of Reesholm, a cliff about three meters high has developed due to the demolition of the coast.

The nature reserve is a habitat for numerous plant and animal species. In the lowland area brooding Wagtail , lapwing , redshank , oystercatcher , shelduck and Gray Goose , the reed zones offer reed bunting and warblers nesting areas. The moraine plate is u. a. Habitat for skylarks , the edge of the edge offers sand martins nesting opportunities . The white-tailed eagle is a frequent food guest . The nature reserve is also of great importance as a resting place for migratory birds . So rest here u. a. Starlings , curlews as well as gray and barnacle geese . Greylag geese also overwinter here, as do whooper swans .

In the west of the nature reserve there is a path, at the end of which there is an observation post. The nature reserve is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Association of the Nature Conservation Union of Germany .
