The Tetenhusener Moor nature reserve is located in the municipality of Tetenhusen in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located northwest of Rendsburg in the Eider-Treene-Sorge river landscape . Today the moor covers an area of 205 ha.

history

Part of the area was placed under protection as early as 1928, the entire area today in 1932 and is now part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas - as part of the larger FFH area DE-1622-391 Moore of the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowland . The area is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein Forestry Forestry Kropp. In April 2016, the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation prepared the first management plan for the FFH sub-area "Tetenhusener Moor" of the FFH area "Moore der Eider-Treene." On behalf of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitalization (MELUND) -Sorge-Niederung "published. The Tetenhusener Moor is an Atlantic high moor, or a rain moor, which arose in the post-ice age when the climate was warm and rainy. Typically, it is fed exclusively by nutrient-poor rainwater. Despite its status as a nature reserve, the moor was used as a training area for the Luftwaffe in 1941, and from 1945 it was even approved for machine tearing. In the following years around 43 hectares of peat were extracted. The necessary drainage has changed the vegetation in the Tetenhusener Moor significantly.

Between 1987 and 1995, extensive measures such as damming, deforestation of birch stands and the removal of pipe grass areas for renaturation and the permanent preservation of the Tetenhusener Moor ecosystem were carried out. To maintain the areas, moorland snouts are used, which counteract the forestation of the area.

animals and plants

In the regenerated areas today there is a typical raised bog vegetation with representatives of peat moss , cotton grass , cranberries , bell heather and sundew . Numerous species of birds such as curlew , crane and black tern use the moor as a resting, feeding and breeding area. The NSG “Tetenhusener Moor” is part of the EU bird sanctuary DE-1622-493 “Eider-Treene-Sorge-Niederung”. The management plan for the FFH sub-area "Tetenhusener Moor" of the FFH area DE-1622-391 "Moore of the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowland" also contains the measures for the sub-area "Tetenhusener Moor" of the EU bird sanctuary DE-1622- 493 "Eider-Treene-Sorge-Niederung"

reachability

One path leads from the road between the towns of Meggerdorf and Alt Bennebek over the bridge at the diversion dike over the Sorge , another leads from the north from Alt Bennebek into the area. In addition, the Eider-Treene-Sorge cycle path runs along the edge of the area. The observation tower erected by the Kropp forestry department burned down, only the foundations are preserved.
