Hvissingesten
The Hvissingesten is the largest boulder ( Danish Vandreblokk ) on the Danish island of Zealand . It is about 90 m from where it was found, at the eastern end of the Vestskoven (forest), north of Hvissinge . The stone measures about 6.0 × 5.0 × 3.5 m and weighs about 250 tons.
It was found in 1966 while building an aqueduct between Ejby and Islev. Since the stone was in the way, it should be blown up. In a quick reaction, the Danish Society for Nature , the city of Copenhagen and the municipality of Glostrup ensured immediate protection. You can still see the holes that were drilled in the stone to blow it up.
