Hwang won-tak

Hwang Won-tak ( Korean 황원탁 ) (born November 26, 1938 in Kangwon-do Pyongchang ) is a South Korean diplomat .

Life

In 1962 he obtained a diploma from the Korea Military Academy and was active in the armed forces of South Korea and in their general staff. In 1981 he attended Southern California University , and in 1993 Yonsei University . In 1995 he resigned from the military with the rank of major general . From 1995 to 1996 he worked in the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1996 to 1999 he served as the South Korean ambassador to Panama . He then went back to South Korea in 1999 as Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This was followed by an assignment in the presidential secretariat for national security and foreign policy and in the military. In 2000 he went to Germany as an ambassador . He held this position until 2003.
